Working for Overbury for its client Thirteen Group, RU Creative developed a high street presence designed to challenge perceptions of social housing. The brief placed the customer experience at the centre of the design, creating a welcoming environment that encouraged people to come in, ask questions and access support. The ambition was to establish a more open, customer-focused approach within the sector.

Thirteen’s values of empathy, flexibility and reliability informed the design. Digital stations and consultation areas offered different ways for customers to engage with services, accommodating both independent use and conversations with the team. A children’s play area recognised the needs of visiting families, helping make the space more welcoming and easier to use.

Further offices and staff breakout space on the first floor supported the people delivering those services. By considering the customer-facing areas and staff accommodation together, the design connected a distinctive high street presence with the everyday needs of the organisation.
