Overview

We worked with fit-out contractor Time Limit Interiors and CBRE, providing a creative commercial interior design solution for a workspace better suited to post-Covid ways of working forThe NCC Group, whose offices are situated in the XYZ Building in Manchester.

We conducted a review and re-plan of the entire office space, allowing for a reduction in the space they occupy, and providing employees with a large collaboration space alongside various work stations.

From our workplace review, and after gaining a deeper understanding of their new needs for the space, we provided a full working drawing package which included bespoke joinery items to ensure the best use of the space.

Brief

NCC Group wanted to create a space for staff which was versatile, but also encouraged social engagement, and included a dedicated hub for alternative working settings, all within smaller parameters than they were used to.

Solution

In order to provide them with a workspace that met the demands of post-Covid ways of working, we designed a range of spaces that included meeting zones, booths, informal breakout spots and high table areas.

The interior palette had to cohesively blend with their existing space while also showcasing their new brand guidelines which they are slowly introducing across all touch points. We introduced a combination of soft blue hues, pastel greys, natural oaks and rich greenery to create a calming, positive atmosphere.

For the various zones within the workspace, we provided six fully bespoke booths, each with a black coated arch to frame the space. We incorporated a soft mid grey velvet seat back for a sense of luxury, and a speckled soft blue faux leather fabric was used on the seat pad for subtle pop of colour. We also created a slatted timber detail, painted in a pastel grey, on the back wall to compliment the fluted detail of the seatback.

The central zone of the workspace is allocated for informal discussions and 1-1 time with other staff members, and so we purposefully contrasted the herringbone timber effect flooring with a modern take on a paisley carpet tile, to create a point of difference. The texture and tones within the carpet created the perfect distinction. Additional materials used included a soft grey textured fabric for the sofas and natural oak coffee tables to add warmth into the space.
